If you were to ask me what my favorite photos are from the trip, it would be these: long exposure shots of Seoul (in its entirety) taken from the observation deck of N Seoul Tower (also known as Namsan Tower). Normally, I upload the photos in sets, which results in smaller photos, but for these I uploaded the full-width version individually, so you can see each one in more detail (especially on mobile).

In my first Exposure piece on Seoul, I mentioned a little anecdote of trying to get up the Namsan Tower. The short version of that story is that I didn’t make it up that time, thanks to an influx of couples that created a hours-long wait. I was determined this time to make it happen. I succeeded (thanks to a minimal couple count) and the results were worth all the planning and climbing (okay, no real climbing, I took the cable car).

At 236 meters, it’s the highest point in Seoul, so you can expect the best views of the city. It doesn’t disappoint. Once the sun went down, I spent some time trying my hand at long exposure photography. I got some funny looks from other visitors when I was just standing next to the window for 20 seconds at a time with my camera and tripod (I was the only person who brought one), seemingly doing nothing (basically you position, click, and wait). One girl, from China I think, watched me for a few minutes taking shots, wondering what I was doing. Once the exposure was complete, I showed her the picture on the camera’s LCD screen (3rd one in this part). She asked if she could take a picture (of the picture) on her cellphone, to which I gladly obliged.

Later on, we got coffee, purchased a lock, etched our initials onto it, and chained it among the thousands of “love-locks” that overflow along the fencing.
